I can’t believe I missed this morning, I thought I had read all of the holes works. This one is perhaps a little less satisfying than a lot of the stores, it’s not incredibly intricate, but still a pleasure to read.

The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge By Arthur Conan Doyle Illustrated Arthur Conan Doyle 9781539945628 Books Reviews

I'm a HUGE fan of Sherlock Holmes ,so I obviously love this one. However, before reading this one,you may want to know that ,though he's in the book,Sherlock Holmes doesn't actually solve this case. I had no problem with it,but someone else might,so I'm just warning you.but seriously,Sherlock Holmes may be old books, but they are truly amazing,so I highly recommend any book that says "sir Arthur Conan Doyle" on the front
Concise, short Holmes story in typical Doyle fashion. Enjoyable, but less detailed than the longer Holmes adventures. A pleasant read.
This is a review of the free version.

The story is a typical Holmes story, with the notable exception of a policeman who is actually comparable to Holmes in ability. Very unusual in the mythos, as even Gregory doesn't have the necessary imagination. If you like Holmes, I recommend this free download.

The reason I drop it a star is the lousy formatting. The mutilation of the paragraphs is really inexcusable. This needs a good clean up badly. No reflection on Doyle, of course.
"The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

"The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge" is one of the many cases of Sherlock Homes. The story has an interesting and bizarre plot as you see it unfold. As the story twists and turns it is remarkable how the story comes to a conclusion for Sherlock Homes.
Another great Sherlock Holmes story. This wasn't my favorite mystery, but I still enjoyed it. Watson gets to be the star of the show for a little while, which is always entertaining. )
As with all Sherlock Holmes mysteries--those by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and not later pretenders, excepting perhaps Adrian Doyle's few efforts--I truly enjoy reading and re-reading the exploits of the famous detective. Outside of Holmesian enthusiasts, few realise that Conan Doyle was himself the model for Holmes AND Watson, being a medical doctor, and one of the first unofficial consulting detectives anywhere. That designation, "unofficial consulting detective," claimed by Holmes, was one of Conan Doyle's own defining titles. In Doyle, and his combined alter egos, Holmes and Watson, we have the incipient modern "private detective," but with a far greater sense of scientific deduction and evidence gathering.

In "The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge" we have many good examples of Doyle's own methods of deduction, and his working at seeming odds with the official police forces, while in reality complimenting their efforts, and never detracting from their own successes, indeed, often giving them the credit for his own discoveries and resolutions of criminal mysteries.
Holmes is an institution and although he is almost outsmarted in this short story by the attending member of the police it is the usual well written plot with a final twist.

The problem for me was the overt racism, obviously signs of the Victorian era but difficult to read in2017.
